Purchase from a property developer – or build it yourself?

There are two schools of thought: either plan and build a house yourself, or buy a turnkey property from a developer. Both options have their advantages & disadvantages.

Many people cite cost saving as the main reason for buying property straight from a developer. Developers deliver a fully-built property at a predetermined price. Now condominiums (condos) make up the majority of new property developments. Buyers have a say in the layout of the interiors and furnishings, and generally speaking there are few variables. When purchasing a turnkey property, the client has a good idea of what the costs will be, which simplifies financing.
