Unterland / Überetsch

In the south of South Tyrol, on the border with neighbouring Trentino lies the Überetsch / Unterland region. This district comprises 18 municipalities with a total of around 68,000 inhabitants. The A22 Brenner motorway runs through the region.

In the Überetsch region, points of interest include Eppan and Kaltern, and Neumarkt, Tramin, Auer and Leifers in the Unterland region.

Besides tourism, wine and fruit farming (mainly apples) also play a major role in the economy.

A number of small lakes, such as the Kalterer See or the Montiggler See lakes have excellent recreational potential, making the Überetsch / Unterland region a sought-after residential destination.
